Issue Analytics Identifier

The app requires the Issue Analytics Identifier field to be added to the screens. This field is necessary to differentiate issue create modal openings.

It is hidden on both the Issue Create and Issue View screens. The field is automatically created when the first project is assigned in the Analytics Context.

It's a plain text field, and we store a timestamp (in milliseconds) of when the issue create dialog was opened in it.

Configuration

To enable analytics gathering for the project, you need to:

  • assign Analytics to the project:

  • associate Issue Analytics Identifier field to the screen used for issue creation in the project Company-managed project: navigate to the following page via the 'Assign Issue Analytics Identifier Field to screens' button. Alternatively, you can find it by navigating to Jira Settings → Work Items → Custom fields, typing 'Issue Analytics Identifier' in the search bar, and selecting 'Associate to Screens'

    Team-managed project: navigate to Project settings → Work types, and drag-and-drop the Issue Analytics Identifier field to the Context fields in all work types where analytics should be generated

  • all done - the app will now start gathering data on issue creation in the project.
